Dope is an American rock group from Chicago that performs new metal with elements of industrial metal. It was founded in 1997. The band succeeded in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. For today, the band has released six full-length albums, the latest, Blood Money Part 1, released on October 28, 2016. Vocalist and author of texts Edsel Dope founded the band in 1997. As a child, Edsel and his brother, Simon Dope, were separated when their parents divorced. After they had grown up, Edsel took Simon into his band to play keyboards. In the band there already were Triple Eisen (bassist), Preston Nash (drummer), and Sloan Gentry (guitar). Unlike other groups in the late 90’s, the style of Dope sounded similar to Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Static-X. At the beginning of its journey the band sold drugs and bought musical instruments for the received money. Note: “Dope” interprets as “Drug”.
